I have in my possession a letter sent by Charles Scaife to his parents on June 14th 1865. Unfortunately the envelope is missing, so I can not identify them. The letter was sent from Prospect House Academy, Tockwith, Yorkshire, just before their summer break. Charles appears to be a pupil who has done rather well for himself, though in what way is not clear, as the photocopy missed out one or two significant words.
He also writes that 'Mr and Mrs Hood present their compliments'. (Proprietors of the the Academy?)
I would be very grateful if anyone can shed any light on this individual, and his family connections.
Thanks in anticipation,
