Familysearch The IGI, Ancestral File, UK 1881 census index and USA 1880 Federal Census are all invaluable search tools from the LDS with many Sc(k)aifes included.
Debt of Honour Register This excellent searchable resource from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission contains details of 1.7 million people who died in action, and includes casualties from both World Wars.
UK 1901 Census Search for your Scaife ancestors in the UK 1901 census and download images of the census extracts themselves, paying by credit card.
Ancestry The 1841 - 1901 censuses for England and Wales are now fully available online. This site is a vast resource for the Scaife census-entry-hunter. Paying subscribers can download the census images to view but you can still discover a lot with a free account which you can create. There is a wealth of other material on this site too and it will be worth while browsing their database list.
FreeBMD This excellent website gives free access to the GRO indexes to births, marriages and deaths
in England and Wales, transcribed by hard-working volunteers. Plenty of Scaifes here up to about 1910! A great feature is the ability to see marriage candidates which share the same reference, a way of finding a spouses's maiden name.
UK BMD Arranged by County, this gives access to the local register indexes in various registration districts, by County. Growing all the time so check back frequently. Yorkshire and Lancashire (solid Scaife territory) both have records worth searching. For marriages, you can often tell the actual church that the couple married in. If it says Civil marriage, it may indicate non-conformism.
Cyndi's List Still widely recognised as the most comprehensively arranged list of links to genealogy sites on the web.
Google Books A vast catalogue which searches inside the text of books. Filter your results by Full text availability to read out of copyright material straight away.
Open Library Similar to Google books, but with some different material available which was scanned via the now defunct Microsoft Books project. At present, it is likely to work best if you know the title of the book you wish to view.
London Gazette Plenty of Scaifes in the archive of this journal, many of them bankrupts. You sometimes get very detailed information about their location in the years preceding their bankruptcy.
Old Bailey Online Several Scaife felons here with trial transcripts.
Scaife Family Genealogy Forum Posts here from fellow Scaife researchers can be useful.
Rootsweb Now maintained by Ancestry, the World Connect section of this site is very useful when looking for pedigrees submitted by other researchers.
